Gleeson Homes build 330 low-cost, quality new homes on Apedale Road
Gleeson Homes has been granted planning permission to build 330 homes with a unanimous committee approval on Apedale Road, in Newcastle Under Lyme.
The development which is set to be named Watermills, after the Watermills Wood, will see the 39.5 acre plot of unused land be transformed into beautiful, high quality, low-cost 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes built in Gleeson’s urban and rural elevation styles.
With house prices on the development anticipated to start from £140,000 Gleeson expects these homes to be highly attractive to first-time buyers, growing families and downsizers local to the area and nearby.
Construction at Watermills is expected to start in Spring of 2023 with the first homes released for sale around Spring 2023. The development’s three show homes are expected to launch in October 2023, and the first residents expected to move into their new homes in the Autumn of 2023.
Gleeson is eager to support the local community and is delighted to be providing financial contributions to the nearby country park, including a Biodiversity Net Gain contribution of £249,317, play area and trim trail equipment fund of £212,033, open space contribution of £140,000 and £7,000 towards a travel plan, ensuring public transport infrastructure is supported.
Gleeson will also engage with the community as part of its Community Matters programme, which sees the housebuilder collaborate with local schools, sports teams, charities, and businesses, supporting local people.
Steve Cosgrove, Operations Director for Merseyside, commented: “Gleeson is very excited to be bringing Watermills, our newest development to Apedale Road. The development is located just across from Apedale Country Park meaning it’s in an ideal location for customers.
“Gleeson is dedicated to ensuring that the housing market better serves young first-time buyers and families on low to average incomes, making homeownership a reality. We are looking forward to working with the local community and will be looking to employ a workforce that comprises of local labour, including apprentices, and contractors.”
Gleeson is seeking local labour and sub-contractors to work on this exciting new development, including applications from local young people who are interested in joining the Gleeson apprenticeship scheme.
