We spoke to Jack to learn more about their journey with Gleeson!

"Both Aimee and I are first-time buyers who relocated from Oxfordshire, where we rented a one-bedroom flat. We made the move in order to afford a larger size property, enjoy a better quality of life and just have a fresh start (as we’ve both grown up and each lived in a small town since birth)! We also know Sheffield quite well and wanted to be within a 30-minute drive to the City. The upgrade in size from our previous property has been incredible, and for practically the same price per month!

Affordability was the key factor for us, as property prices in South Yorkshire and North Nottinghamshire are much better than in Oxfordshire. The location is great too; we wanted to be close to Sheffield for shopping, dining, and entertainment, and Worksop is nearby for our weekly food shops and other amenities.

We bought our new home with the help of Own New and received a 5% deposit contribution from Gleeson. We chose the three-bedroom Lisburn because of its spacious kitchen and garden, and the third bedroom serves as a perfect home office. We noticed that price was more affordable than other new build developments in the area, and we loved the layout and size of the Lisburn.

Taking our first step onto the property ladder and owning a significant asset was very important to us. We opted for a few upgrades to add a personal  touch to the home, including a shower in our main bathroom, landscaped garden, flooring throughout, and several kitchen extras. The property is very energy efficient and well insulated, resulting in much lower gas and electric bills compared to our previous rented property.

The community feel at Firbeck Fields is very friendly, with great local walks, especially in the country park. It’s a nice balance of living in a rural location while being close enough to a few cities.

The journey of buying our new home was extremely efficient and exciting. From reservation to completion, it took just 47 days! A massive shout out to our Sales Executive Chris Henry who was very friendly and helpful, ensuring our journey went as smoothly as possible.

Relocating from Oxfordshire was a big move for us, but we are really enjoying our new lifestyle. We’ve celebrated our fresh start with family and friends, who all love the property. The process from start to finish was great, with extremely helpful Sales Executives and a fantastic Site Manager, Darren, who fixed any minor issues on the same day they were reported. It was a great experience all around, and we would highly recommend Gleeson to friends and family.

We would advise anyone looking to buy a new build home with Gleeson to work closely with the sales team during the purchase process and use a good solicitor to expedite the process. Also, visit a few Gleeson developments to decide which one feels the best. We initially chose a site online but changed our minds after visiting a few in person. We love our home and would definitely consider buying a second home with Gleeson in the future!"
